Song Exploration

My love of music started at my father’s feet. When I was little, my uncles and cousins use to come over to our house frequently and play their songs altogether. They were all in Spanish. I didn’t understand, but I didn’t need to. In the middle of the circle of the guitars was me sitting on the floor. In our time together, my Dad would translate the lyrics for me in English so that I knew what they meant. To this day, it is something that we still do in the time we spend together.

My brother is a close second in this area. He is a poet at heart and always had all the good music. I would steal everything off his iTunes. We’ve explored all kinds of music together. We’ve memorized lyrics and related over songs and experiences. Music has always connected us.
